"BrtStlnd" (BrtStlnd)
02/03/2016 at 12:30 • Filed to: Furious Fuckery | 9 | 36 |
Other than catching a few minutes of the first one on TV, I have never seen any of the Fast & Furious movies, and I don’t plan to. I feel like instead of wasting several hours, I can just watch a 3 minute video of cars being wrecked on YouTube and get the same experience.

Regarding the first one:
Have you ever seen Point Break?

This. It’s basically Point Break with cars.

Hahaha WHERE IS MACK??
Yes, I’ve seen Point Break... the original anyway. I don’t think anyone saw the reboot.

Then you’ve seen F&F 1.
Right down to the “EYE AM AN EFF BE EYE AGENT” like scene.

I’ve never watched a complete F&F movie and I only watched the Tokyo one and the 1st one.

I’ve never seen the Wizard of Oz and now I actively avoid it to keep the streak going. Even went to sleep when they played it in my 5th grade class.

Excellent! That review validates my stance.

Wasn’t the Tokyo one widely regarded as the worst of the bunch?

I had not watched any of them until last year. It’s the kind of movie you play while doing something else, since it’s not like you’re watching this for moody, cinematic shots which are a metaphor for the protagonists inner struggle. You watch this for the cars, the engine noises, the unlimited gear shifts, and EXPLOSIONS.
I thought the movies were going to be incredibly stupid, and I was right, but I still enjoyed them. They all kind of blend together, but Tokyo Drift is the one I remember best, and probably enjoyed the most.
If you never watch them, it's not that big of a deal. That's my two cents.

I’ve seen it and I was seriously underwhelmed.

I think this is a very fair assessment of the franchise.

I don’t even know, I remember friends ridiculing the Brazilian one because the Police somehow had Dodge Chargers and the Favela guys spoke Spanish.

1 through 3 are pure early aughts cheese. 4 through current are decent action films.

The first one is a pretty good bad film, if you just want something to veg out to. The rest are total rubbish.

They are incredibly stupid a lot of times but it feels like they're in on it. I've seen all of them. Would watch again 100%.

Ditto.
Subject matter does not a good movie make.

I feel like that's the case, too. Surely all of the actors know what they're doing after seven movies, and I like that it's not too serious. Not all movies need to be thought-provoking and emotionally challenging - these are just good fun, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I don’t care if this is possibly a troll comment, but Bruce is fucking terrible. The only way I can stomach his music is if it is a cover.

You know that one friend everyone has, who actually prides himself on having never seen any of the Starwars movies? Don’t be that guy.
At least watch the first one all the way through. There are too many great car culture jokes based on it not to.

I wouldn’t call him terrible, but his voice has an affectation (grunting and howling) that grates on me, much like Bob Dylan.

I think he gained popularity strictly because he was against "the man", and people just stuck with it, talent or not.

Personally I love (well with the exception of four I think) and own all of them. But, hey different strokes and all.
